Main purpose of job:


This is an exciting time to join the Department for Business and Trade (DBT) and promote UK trade and investment in Australia.

You will join a high performing team of trade and investment experts, working across five diplomatic missions in Australia.

You will also be an integral part of DBT's wider APAC region of over 200 people in 22 locations and the UK Government's Australia Network.

You will have the opportunity to collaborate across our networks on a range of trade and investment campaigns, soft power initiatives, trade missions and VIP visits.

The Trade & Investment Development Manager will be responsible for helping companies in the Financial and Professional Services sector to enter the Australian and UK markets supporting two way trade and investment activities.

The Financial and Professional Services sector team covers a number of exciting areas including fintech, legal services, insurtech and regtech to name a few.


Roles and responsibilities / what will the jobholder be expected to achieve?:

The role will involve developing and delivering an effective engagement strategy, in conjunction with the sector lead, that evaluates and delivers on market opportunities for UK companies in the Financial Services and Professional Services sector as well as identifying and supporting high potential foreign direct investment (FDI) prospects from Australia to the UK.


The role will support company enquiries as well as delivering sector initiatives such as trade missions, events and other required tasks that support trade and investment activities for the sector and contribute to export wins and FDI targets.

There will be a need to work in close collaboration with the DBT team across the APAC network to deliver DBT priorities.

Salary is at AU$ 80,507 per annum (paid out monthly), plus 11% superannuation.

Open to Australian citizens, permanent residents, and partners/ dependents of UK-based diplomatic staff currently posted in Australia.
A security check (and clearance) may be required prior to employment.

Working Patterns:

Full time employment (38 hrs).

The British Consulate General supports flexible and remote working for all its employees.
