The Net Zero Transport team is part of the Energy Division of the NSW Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW).


About the opportunity
This is your opportunity to be part of the team accelerating the uptake of electric vehicles (EVs) in NSW.

The NSW EV destination Charging team delivers a highly successful grants program offering $20 million of grant funding to tourism businesses and local councils in regional NSW install EV charging infrastructure.

This position will see you play a pivotal role in the deployment of thousands of EV chargers across regional NSW and ensure that every corner of NSW is EV friendly.


  • You will be: _
- working with diverse and passionate stakeholders from industry, local councils and NSW government agencies to support the adoption of electric vehicles and the successful implementation of the NSW Electric Vehicle Strategy
- working in a team that aims to deliver tangible outcomes across regional NSW
- part of the team delivering substantial emission reductions from the transport sector and supporting the State's objective to achieve net zero emissions by 2050.


You will work on all parts of program delivery, from supporting key pieces of research, engaging with leading industry bodies, presenting to a wide range of audiences, through to project managing grantees and delivery of funding as charging stations are constructed.

This is a fast-paced program so your background in project management and stakeholder engagement will hold you in good stead, but there will be significant opportunities to get involved in a variety of different projects, from running workshops to looking at new and creative ways to collect and interpret data.

About You


By joining our team, you will bring your professional expertise and passion to work on key projects and initiatives that support the transition to net-zero emissions in NSW.

You are a strong collaborator who can form productive partnerships throughout the program lifecycle through effective communication, negotiation and issues management to ensure project, program and portfolio objectives are met.

You value continuous learning, learning from mistakes and driving innovation across your program delivery.


You will have a minimum of 5 years' experience in sustainability, environmental engineering, environmental management, environmental consulting, renewable energy and/or sustainability roles delivering strategic energy, transport and emissions reduction projects.

To be successful in the role you will have strong experience in managing complex, dynamic and high-profile projects. You work collaboratively with diverse and sensitive stakeholders to achieve and optimise business outcomes. You will streamline delivery by managing competing demands and priorities and understand issues impacting program objectives and deliverables.

Key knowledge and experience

  • Strong knowledge of operational requirements for successful delivery of sustainability, transport, energy, climate change, resilience, adaptation and/or net zero emissions programs.
  • Project management skills demonstrating the ability to deliver agreed outcomes on time, on budget, and to quality standards, and demonstrated time management and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise competing demands.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills (verbal and written).
  • Ability to exercise sound judgement and discretion and ensure effectiveness, accountability and transparency.
  • Understanding of contract and/or grant management.
