Primary purpose of the role
The Assistant Procurement Officer provides the procurement support and business administration and support to facilitate business operations.

Key accountabilities

  • Complete data entry of routine financial transactions such as raising purchase requisitions, administering travel requests and purchasing services, updating and maintaining databases such as the contracts register, ensuring compliance with relevant policies and procedures
  • Deliver a wide range of administrative support functions including, records management, routine purchasing, drafting routine correspondence and template documents accurately with attention to detail, within set timeframes to support information flow to the corporate teams and Council teams.
  • Provide relief to reception as required, receive, assess, manage and record telephone enquiries from internal and external callers, including distressed callers, transfer callers courteously and manage requests for meetings
  • Respond to enquiries, and escalate and direct issues as required, to ensure the provision of timely and accurate information
  • Assist the corporate services team with arranging meetings and general administrative assistance where required
  • Work with procurement and business partners to assess their business needs, undertake analysis to advise on simple procurement

Essential requirements

  • Qualifications such as Certificate 3 level in Business Administration Support (or similar) and/or substantial experience in administrative support roles
