A full range of paediatrics and adolescent health services are provided plus tertiary and quaternary care for the most critically ill and medically complex patients in Victoria, Tasmania, southern NSW and other states around Australia and overseas.

The Hospital has more than 6,000 staff, a budget of $850M, 12 wards and 350 beds. Annually, the RCH has 300,000+ Specialist Clinic appointments, 90,000+ Emergency Department presentations and 20,000 elective surgeries.

Applications are now open for a Fellow in Burns to join the team from February 2025 for 12 months. This position is full-time.


The RCH Burns Service is the Victorian statewide burns service for children, providing complete care for Victorian children with major burns, as well as an important proportion of children with minor burns.

Burns care is strongly multi-disciplinary, and surgical management of burns involves both Paediatric Surgery and Plastics and Reconstructive Surgery team members.


In addition, the Burns Fellow will be encouraged, and as possible enabled, to participate in the clinical research activities of the Burns Service, with focus and methodologies under the guidance of RCH Burns Service senior staff and leadership.


Ultimately, this role aims to train future, expert and caring consultant surgeons who are committed to and skilled in excellent paediatric burns surgery and its broader positive role in multidisciplinary burns care.
