RCH has cared for the children and young people of Victoria for more than 150 years since it was founded in 1870.

A full range of paediatrics and adolescent health services are provided plus tertiary and quaternary care for the most critically ill and medically complex patients in Victoria, Tasmania, southern NSW and other states around Australia and overseas.

The Hospital has more than 6,000 staff, a budget of $850M, 12 wards and 350 beds. Annually, the RCH has 300,000+ Specialist Clinic appointments, 90,000+ Emergency Department presentations and 20,000 elective surgeries.

Neonatal Fellows
Applications are sought from suitably qualified medical practitioners for Neonatal Fellow positions in 2025. Positions are available commencing 3rd February 2025 and may be for 6 or 12 months; full-time or part-time. Fellow positions are designed for senior trainees pursuing a career in Neonatology.


The Royal Children's Hospital is a paediatric teaching hospital, and its Newborn Intensive Care Unit acts as a quaternary referral centre for neonates with complex medical and surgical problems from Victoria, its neighbouring states, and overseas.

The Unit is the major regional centre for neonatal surgery and is recognised for its expertise in the provision of advanced respiratory support.

There is an active research program in several areas.

Fellows in their final year of RACP advanced training may act in a junior consultant role under supervision during the latter part of their rotation.


Registrar positions will be advertised through VPAT (opening in July 2024), and are suitable for trainees with 6 months neonatal experience.
