Casual Learner Support Services Officer

The purpose of the position is to provide seamless frontline service, enriching the student experience and supporting students to achieve their study goals.


The role focuses on providing support to students and staff to access appropriate library resources, provide technical support as a first point of contact and respond to customer enquiries across numerous service channels.


The position is not confined to one campus but instead is to provide support services to Chisholm libraries as required by the operations of the business.


Key Accountabilities include but not limited to:

  • Respond to and actively problem-solve general customer enquiries about a diverse range of Chisholm services including student support and engagement, enrolment procedures, classroom locations, basic course information, and library information;
  • Assist to develop, across the team, a strong service culture and commitment to the delivery of professional and diverse information and support services;
  • Conduct basic library orientation for students to impart knowledge and familiarity with the modern learning services environment;
  • Carry out reference interviews and help students to locate appropriate resources for their needs;
  • Provision of basic technical support by responding to users' routine computer requests that are submitted by phone, helpdesk or in person;
  • Have a working knowledge of Chisholm teaching tools and software. Problem solve customer queries in using the student portal, timetabling, Moodle, MS Office, password resetting etc;

ABOUT YOU
You will have relevant qualifications, skills, and experience in the following:

  • A relevant qualification at a minimum of Diploma level or a combination of lesser qualification and significant library experience
  • Competent skill and familiarity with 21st Century teaching tools and software used in TAFE and Higher Education Sectors (e.g. Moodle, Alfresco, Timetabling and Course Information Registers)
  • Highly developed oral communication skills, as well as highly developed interpersonal and customer relation skills
  • Current experience in providing customer service support in a complex and demanding educational environment
  • Ability to work collaboratively and adopt a teamwork approach
  • Demonstrable current experience and knowledge of Library procedures and practices
