The SAHMRI Precision Cancer Medicine theme are seeking a motivated and experienced Research Assistant to support projects within the Leukemia Research group.

This position will work closely with Senior Researchers as well as interact with a range of external stakeholders, including collaborating academic, government and contract research organisations.

About the role

Key responsibilities include:

  • Performing laboratorybased experiments, including but not limited to, culture of cell lines, flow cytometry including immunophenotyping, proliferation and cell based assays.
  • Participate in special projects to continuously improve processes, tools, systems and organisation.
  • Participate in the implementation of the Institute's Work, Health and Safety Management System and related laws, regulations and guidelines.
About You

  • A relevant Bachelor's degree/diploma in an appropriate science or health sciences discipline (Honours degree desirable).
  • Experience in animal care and performing procedures on murine models.
  • Experience in any or all of the following: cell culture, molecular cloning, blood processing, and flow cytometry.
  • Practical experience in the conduct of qualitative and/or quantitative research methods.
  • Knowledge of systems and processes to support the collation and management of high quality data and accuracy in research.
  • Knowledge of confidentiality and privacy laws and guidelines relevant to health and medical research.
  • Analytical and problemsolving skills, including the ability to be innovative, resourceful and creative.
  • Methodical approach with good attention to detail.
Special Requirements

  • Some out of hours work may be required.
  • DCSI Employment Screening and Police Checks may be required.
