Fixed term full time position available for 12 months.


Located within the South Australian Health and Medical Research Institute (SAHMRI), the Gut Cancer Lab led by Associate Professor Susan Woods, employs state-of-the-art approaches using both patient samples and pre-clinical models to find ways to reduce bowel cancer deaths through better prevention and treatment.


We are seeking an experienced Research Officer to join an established research team on a project investigating a novel bowel cancer detection strategy using mouse models.

The successful applicant will be joining a highly driven and enthusiastic research group where mentoring for career progression and development will be provided.


To be successful you will need:

  • Completion of a molecular science degree or relevant and experience working in a research setting using advanced tissue culture and molecular biology techniques.
  • Previous experience in animal colony management, advanced animal handling and procedures.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and meticulous record keeping skills.
  • Ability to work well both independently and as a member of a team, showing initiative and supporting fellow team members.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and competency in computer programming/bioinformatics is desirable.
