Job Description

We are looking for a dedicated Child Health Nurse to join our team for a 6-12 week project. As a member of our team, you will provide high-quality healthcare to children aged 0-5 years, support families, and collaborate with a diverse group of professionals. This role presents a great opportunity to make a meaningful difference in a short span of time.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver evidence-based child health care to individuals, families, and the community with a culturally sensitive approach.
  • Conduct thorough health assessments from birth to school entry, including school entry health evaluations in partnership with school health personnel.
  • Coordinate and support the Enhanced Aboriginal Child Health Schedule (EACHS) for children aged 0-5 years, especially for those facing heightened risks.
  • Conduct screenings for postnatal depression during 6-8 week and 3-4 month baby check-ups at GOS, and make appropriate referrals to specialist services.
  • Administer vaccinations and maintain accurate records in compliance with the Australian Immunisation Register and WA Immunisation Schedule for children aged 0-5 years.
  • Develop strategies to ensure timely vaccinations and ensure full immunization completion by 63 months of age.
  • Engage in collaborative meetings with various agencies, including the Department of Child Protection and Family Support (DCPFS), and collaborate with clinical teams to assist vulnerable families.
  • Conduct health assessments for referred children in care within 30 days.
  • Provide parenting education to families through culturally relevant group sessions.
  • Facilitate access to child and family support services.
  • Submit monthly reports as per the child health funding agreement.
  • Manage patient referrals to pediatric specialists for children aged 0-5 years.

Qualifications:

  • Preferably hold a Child Health Certificate.
  • Currently registered with AHPRA.
  • Demonstrated experience in child health nursing or a related field.
  • Comprehensive understanding of holistic and culturally sensitive healthcare approaches.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in a multidisciplinary environment.
  • Proficient in maintaining records and producing insightful reports.
