Job Title: Prevention and Population Health Officer

The Gippsland Region Public Health Unit, operating under Latrobe Regional Hospital (LRH), is on the lookout for a Prevention and Population Health Officer to become a part of the GRPHU team either full-time or part-time, on an ongoing basis.

In this role, you will be pivotal in supporting the team to deliver results and optimize public health outcomes for the community. You will witness the impact you can make daily when you step into work.

Whether you have prior experience in a similar position or are seeking advancement in your career, you will receive strong support from our friendly and committed Prevention and Population Health team.

Reporting to the Prevention and Population Health Lead, this position is crucial in identifying health promotion priorities, primary prevention, and early intervention to align with the Victorian Public Health and Wellbeing Outcomes Framework.

This role acknowledges the diversity of the local catchment; addressing health disparities is a fundamental goal of population health strategies, and aspects like gender equality and intersectionality will play a significant role in decision-making and intervention strategies.

Our ideal candidate will:

  • Demonstrate a solid understanding of population health principles, health promotion, and chronic disease prevention;
  • Contribute to the development of location-based health promotion initiatives, including assessment and tracking;
  • Engage in and contribute to enhancing population health in the region by collaborating with key stakeholders;
  • Be adept at effective communication and problem-solving.

In this role, the successful candidate will collaborate closely with existing stakeholders in Central Gippsland across the Baw Baw and Latrobe catchment areas, the GRPHU regional teams, and the local community.
