About the Role

St Francis Xavier College is looking for a Coordinator of STEM to join the team. The STEM Coordinator is essential in providing support and guidance to staff and students, creating an environment that values teaching and learning.

We are seeking an individual who aligns with the college's vision of 'Living the truth, leading with courage, learning for life', and is dedicated to promoting Catholic education. The ideal candidate will be an experienced educator with a proven track record in curriculum leadership, possessing initiative, integrity, and vision.

The STEM Coordinator will lead in curriculum development, teaching practices, and learning strategies for junior and senior studies, utilizing the latest research and innovations to cater to diverse learning needs. Reporting to the Assistant Principal Teaching and Learning, the STEM Coordinator is pivotal in realizing the college's vision and mission.

This is a temporary appointment to fill in for an employee on leave or secondment.

Key Responsibilities

The responsibilities of a St Francis Xavier College STEM Coordinator include, but are not limited to:

  • Bring the college's vision to life through leadership at faculty and school levels
  • Demonstrate high-impact teaching practices in the STEM faculty to enhance student engagement and achievement
  • Implement best practices in curriculum, pedagogy, and decision-making based on research and evidence
  • Use data to guide faculty direction
  • Lead modern assessment practices to improve student learning
  • Identify student needs, adjust curriculum and assessment as necessary
  • Collaborate with the Assistant Principal Teaching and Learning to promote the Catholic ethos, develop policies, and create quality curriculum
  • Keep the Assistant Principal Teaching and Learning informed about significant academic progress issues
  • Facilitate conflict resolution and promote harmonious work relationships
  • Guide staff in developing individual professional development plans through professional discussions
  • Conduct faculty meetings for strategic planning and collaboration

Essential Criteria

The successful candidate must have:

  • Commitment to the Catholic Ethos of the College
  • Extensive teaching and curriculum experience
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for various audiences
  • In-depth knowledge of the Australian Curriculum, educational best practices, relevant legislation, and current research
  • Ability to collaborate within the Curriculum Leadership Team, plan school-wide objectives, and drive change
  • Experience in implementing policies and strategies to enhance student learning and well-being
  • Capability to build productive relationships with staff, students, families, and partners
  • Skills in managing administrative tasks to meet regulatory responsibilities
