SGS is looking for a Full-time Coal Technician to join our team at Mount Thorley, NSW.

The main responsibility for this role will be the timely and quality sampling, preparation, and analysis of samples for internal and external customers.

Your key responsibilities in this role will include but are not limited to:

  • Conduct allocated tasks with the effective use of risk management tools both at the Clients workplace and the Hunter Valley branch.
  • Actively seeks out opportunities to build working relationships with other team members and supports others during peak workload periods.
  • Ensure that correct procedures are utilised in all aspects of sampling, recording, preparation, analysis, storage and reporting.
  • To ensure accuracy, precision and traceability of prepared samples.
  • Assist with the preventative maintenance of all preparation and laboratory equipment.
  • Assist with the calibration of all preparation and laboratory equipment.
  • Follow routine and nonroutine sampling instructions from the Supervisor.

Qualifications

  • Coal sampling, preparation and testing experience preferred
  • Previous experience in general mineral laboratory environment preferred
  • Appropriate onthejob training with 612 months experience in a laboratory or chemical process
  • Successful completion of Year 10 secondary education with science background or equivalent (preferred)
  • Progress towards or completion of relevant higher formal qualifications preferred
  • Good computer skills i.e. Excel beneficial
  • Completion of a numeracy, writing and comprehension test to required standard
  • Current full drivers license (car), green p plates by approval from Business Manager
