All Energy Contracting (AEC) is a leading construction contractor specialising in the energy and renewable energy sector, including solar, wind, battery, and hybrid facilities. Our core services comprise civil works, trenching, cable installation, electrical and mechanical installations, terminations, testing, commissioning (DC, LV, HV), ongoing maintenance and consulting expertise.

Due to company growth and market opportunity, AEC is seeking a general manager to be instrumental in the Company's expansion plans, leading the Technical Services & Specialised Contracting business unit (AEM), providing specialised contracting solutions, engineering / technology leadership, commissioning, sustaining capital and maintenance services in the energy and renewables sectors (including high voltage jointing, substation and power system expertise).

The AEM business entity is designed to support AEC's in-house construction projects in renewables providing a competitive advantage and technical expertise, as well as adding value to external clients in a range of industry sectors. AEM is an emerging business unit within the AEC Group and requires hands-on leadership to implement the AEM growth strategy and manage operational activities to achieve business unit objectives.

Reporting to the AEC Group CEO, you will collaborate closely with internal and external stakeholders to secure and deliver AEM project works across Australia and NZ, which may span across technical consulting, project feasibility, construction, commissioning, operations sustaining capital and maintenance phases.

Key Accountabilities will include:

  • Provide effective leadership and management to the Technical Services and Specialised Contracting (AEM) team, fostering a high-performance culture and ensuring the delivery of high-quality services
  • Develop, support, and nurture relationships with AEM's clients and supply partners, including collaborating across the broader AEC business
  • Develop and implement strategies to refine AEM's client value proposition and achieve budgeted revenue and profit targets
  • Drive technical service excellence in the renewables and energy sectors supporting AEC's in-house construction projects, while also developing opportunities to service other clients and adjacent sectors
  • Oversee project performance within the AEM portfolio from project initiation to completion in accordance with execution plans, client requirements, corporate policies, standards, and procedures
  • Oversee the development and implementation of AEM cost estimates, proposals, execution plans, techniques, and practices to deliver on our client commitments and industry best practice standard
  • Provide regular performance reporting and drive innovation and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Develop, coach and mentor the technical, delivery and field teams, providing them with regular feedback and leadership, and fostering their professional growth and career development
  • Pro-actively manage AEM business and project-related risks and opportunity
  • Propose M&A and partnering opportunities to continue to develop capacity and grow capability in line with AEM's strategy.
  • Promote a safety-first culture, ensure safe design and construction processes are applied,

Key skills and experience required for you to thrive in this role, will include:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or Project Management or equivalent Specialist Trade and business management credentials
  • Minimum of 10 years' senior leadership experience, working for a construction contractor or a project delivery and engineering consultancy or EPC company
  • Strong knowledge of the renewables and energy sectors, with exposure to other markets such as heavy industry and resources considered favourable
  • Proven ability to work effectively from a strategic and operational level, with a "hands on" leadership approach
  • Previous experience in growing a successful services business unit, a natural relationship builder, strong communicator and posing astute commercial acumen

Location: Ashgrove QLD, with regular site visits
