About Us:

BYETC is a Department of Education school operating within the Brisbane Youth Detention Centre at Wacol.

It is a multi-campus school which caters for students, both male and female from across the state who are either on remand or have been sentenced for criminal offences.

The school plays an important role in the community by providing young people in detention with the opportunity to gain knowledge, skills and values that can enhance their capacity to pursue positive choices in the future.


About the Role:

Your responsibilities within this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Leading the school community to develop, articulate and commit to a shared educational vision focused on providing quality learning outcomes for all students.
  • Upholding the principalship as a values based, ethical and moral activity.
  • Embed socially just practices in daily school life.
  • Set high standards for student and staff performance.
  • Actively participate in life long learning and ongoing professional development.
  • Form partnerships with parents, other government agencies, community groups, industry and business.
