About the role


Reporting to the Manager Rail Safety Systems, you will lead the development and continuous improvement of Queensland Rail's integrated system of Safeworking rules and procedures, managing the interface between technology and operations for the safe operation of rail traffic and the protection of people and property on or in the vicinity of the railway.


We will be asking you to help us define business problems and develop solutions that challenge the way we think.

This will include detailed assessments of opportunities, as well as creating and maintaining project, process and procedural documentation to ensure standards and procedures are up to date, are continuously improving and comply with legislative and organisational requirements.


Facilitating teamwork and creating a collaborative environment to foster ideas; supporting and mentoring teams through the journey, your impact will be evident in the strong, influential, and professional relationships you foster with key stakeholders.

About you
You will be a key member of the Rail Safety team.

Your ability to stay focussed on the big picture, celebrate the small wins along the way and drive performance will ensure your success in this role.


  • Substantial experience and record of achievements researching, developing and writing operational safety documentation within a large complex organisation.
  • Demonstrated business acumen and ability to lead significant change
  • Extensive knowledge of train operations environments and safety related governance frameworks in particular safeworking principles, methods and procedures.
  • Substantial knowledge of risks relating to operational safety.
  • Substantial knowledge of project management, risk management and stakeholder management.
  • High level of conceptual, analytical and problem solving skills
