As the Head of Protocol and Events, you will lead a multi-disciplinary team in the strategic development and effective delivery of events and programs across four key streams of work: protocol and ceremonial, including the delivery of events of state significance and international visits; the administration of Australian honours and awards within Victoria, including the Recognition Matters program; the planning and delivery of Australia Day programs and events; and internal Department of Premier and Cabinet (DPC) corporate events.

In this role, you will also be responsible for maintaining key stakeholder relationships and providing timely advice to the Office of the Premier, Office of the Governor, as well as the Secretary and senior executives of DPC.

The position offers the opportunity to showcase your experience on large scale events and projects and to utilise your management and leadership skills in a dynamic environment.

About you

  • Demonstrated experience at a senior level in planning, project management and managing the implementation of programs and projects within large, complex environments.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing, leading and mentoring teams.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills, including preparing complex written materials.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and negotiation skills, with an ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities and to manage deadlines under pressure.
