YOUR ROLE


The Portfolio Specialist is responsible for contributing to the management of the overall P&L outcomes for products sold through the chosen portfolio, this role adds value by understanding the cumulative impact of decision making on the chosen customer segments within the portfolio.


The role is accountable for identifying risks and opportunities that impact portfolio growth and/or profitability by looking across the insurance value chain and working closely with other functions, ensuring the right trade-off (margin, volume, premium) decisions are made, you'll also work collaboratively with Intermediated verticals and Intermediated Claims to determine partner/customer segment profitability and the economic viability of partner/customer value propositions.


The role will contribute to the establishment and achievement of business plans, defining strategic pricing and underwriting strategy for each segment.

A requirement of the role will be the ability to influence behaviour across IIA Division and other service providers across the Group (e.g. Strategy, Innovation and Underwriting)

ABOUT YOU

  • Pricing
  • Knowledge of the full spectrum of insurance pricing activities, practices, tools and considerations; ability to utilise these and various techniques to set prices for premiums of different insurance products and contracts.
  • Risk Analysis and Selection
  • Knowledge of tools and techniques of analysing potential risk exposures; ability to utilise these to determine coverage.
  • Strong commercial acumen, looking to balance the drive for improvement with recognition of stakeholder needs and external regulators
  • Implementationof technical framework such as underwriting rules and guidelines, risk appetitie, including training and development
  • Responsible for underwriting referral process and auditing
  • Good understanding and background knowledge of the workings of intermediated business
  • Ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders and product teams
  • Knowledge of Product Line
  • Knowledge of methodologies, tools and techniques for specific products; ability to develop product line processes and strategies.


Solutions Development
  • Knowledge of and the ability to assess customer needs and provide solutions for them


Risk Improvement
  • Knowledge of risk control methods and techniques; ability to develop related plans and management programs to control losses at corporate and local levels.
