About the Role


As the Team Leader of the IEC team, you will head a crew of Instrumentation, Electrical, and Control Systems engineers within the EAPNG Operating Division.

Your team will deliver technical assessments, prioritising designs that are fit for purpose, specifically during the Concept Select and FEED phases.


We are looking for an individual with a "Big picture" mindset and demonstrated ability to work alongside other departments to deliver cost effective optimisation solutions across the various Santos assets.


You will strategically manage risk and reward to enhance project NPV during front-end loading phases, while maintaining compliance with Australian and Santos Standards and the asset Operating Philosophy.


Key accountabilities include:

  • Delivering FEL for a portfolio of EAPNG projects to improve project value enabling access a greater reserve base.
  • Ensuring development project scope adheres to the asset Operating Philosophy in what it delivers.
  • Owners Engineering input to prevent scope drift in FEED and Detailed design fit for purpose design, ensuring compliance with Santos, Australian and international specifications and standards.
  • Identifying opportunities to exploit the resource differently, at lower cost or improve resource recovery.
  • Balances Risk and Reward in design inherently safe & operable facilities at the lowest lifecycle cost.
  • Work closely & collaboratively with Development and Project Managers ensuring key deliverables are in place to meet project milestones and assurance gates.

About You

Professional Experience:

Essential:

  • Understand principle of life cycle costing, economics of a project, net present value
  • Substantial experience in oil and gas or similar industry.
  • Solid experience as a practicing engineer in Oil and Gas Upstream or Processing facilities, practicing in the Instrumentation, Controls or Electrical disciplines.
  • Leading multi discipline engineering teams in Oil and Gas Exploration and Production company, preferably in support of both Operations and project teams.
  • Familiar with relevant Australian and ASME standards as applicable to Oil and Gas industry

Qualifications:

Essential:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical or Mechatronics engineering.
  • Chartered Engineer and eligible for RPEQ

Desired:

  • Background in Instrumentation and Control systems.
  • Post graduate qualification in Project Management.
