Job Description:

We are seeking to appoint a Newsletter Editor to drive newsletter strategy and operations.

Day to day you will:

  • Further develop, identify new opportunities, and deliver the AFR's newsletter strategy, working closely with senior editors to develop and deliver a plan aligned with the AFR's editorial priorities by using data and analytics.
  • Write, curate and edit newsletters, including the daily Need To Know newsletter, as required.
  • Work directly with journalists and other teams (including product and business side) and serve as the main point of contact for all AFR editorial newsletters
  • Educate newsrooms on the importance of newsletters to a subscription strategy
  • Train newsrooms in the production and writing of newsletter
  • Work closely with other teams (data, product and tech, subscriptions) to monitor and communicate performance insights via regular reporting, improve readerfacing features, and coordinate campaigns and promotion of newsletters

Qualifications:

What we would like to see on your resume:

  • Demonstrated experience and interest in newsletters, reader conversion to subscriptions, and business writing and editing (including publishing and digital media)
  • Knowledge of and experience in the media landscape, including a demonstrated understanding of what drives engagement and what doesn't in businessrelated newsletters
  • Strong editorial judgement; ability to absorb complex ideas and distil them into accessible copy for different audiences
  • Exceptional organisational skills; ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously, manage complex processes, and meet both shortterm and longterm deadlines
