THE OPPORTUNITY


Join the dynamic team at Holmesglen Student Wellbeing Department as an experienced Social Worker/Counsellor We are seeking a passionate individual to contribute to our student-focused approach and provide valuable support within the Apprentice Support area.


As a Social Worker/Counsellor, you will play a crucial part in optimising student performance by offering personalised welfare support as well as guidance on personal, educational, and career matters.

Your expertise will contribute to enhancing the overall wellbeing and success of our students.


Additionally, you will have the exciting opportunity to conduct engaging group workshops on various developmental topics, including life skills, study techniques, and stress management.


Salary:
$79,017 to $84,821 p.a pro rata (dependent upon qualifications and experience) + 11% super + annual leave loading.

Time Fraction:
Full time, 1.0 EFT.

Location:
Chadstone and Drummond St Campus'

WWCC:
Appointment to this position is dependent on obtaining and maintaining a Working with Children Check.

Position Status:
Ongoing contract of employment, with a 6-month qualifying period

ABOUT YOU

  • Preferred experience in an educational environment or similar, with a focus on student issues and expertise in providing counselling, welfare services, and career guidance.
  • A commitment to ethical professional practices and counselling standards, along with a strong understanding of case management processes for effective student support.
  • Familiarity with relevant community organisations and welfare agencies, including welfare and mental health information services and referral procedures.
  • Knowledge of necessary legislation, regulations, processes, and techniques, as well as strategies to support individuals with special needs.
  • An understanding of educational programs, such as Apprenticeships and VCAL, and staying uptodate with current issues and developments in the vocational and higher education sectors that impact the student experience.
  • Possession of postgraduate qualifications in social work, psychology, counselling, or a related discipline, coupled with relevant work experience.
