ASC is Australia's submarine company. We constructed the Royal Australian Navy's Collins Class submarines, maintain them, and are currently working on their Life of Type Extension to enhance the boats' longevity. About the Opportunity

The Project Coordinator reports to the Project Manager and is responsible for overseeing detailed project management and support tasks throughout all project stages.

  • Significant docked maintenance availabilities (e.g. IDs/MCDs/FCDs) for major projects.
  • Minor maintenance activities or important Capability upgrade projects for minor projects.
  • Minor Capability upgrade projects, minor maintenance tasks, or business/process enhancement projects for very minor projects, including those within this Forward Planning and Asset Management role.
Responsibilities
  • Contribute to developing project plans aligning with ASC's safety and cost efficiency objectives.
  • Regular coordination with various ASC departments such as Engineering, Quality, Planning, Production, and others.
  • Create appropriate scopes of work and ensure delivery meets contractual requirements.
  • Identify project risks and assist in managing them throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Prepare and compile reports following project needs, and coordinate project reviews on a weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis.
  • Monitor project performance, analyze discrepancies, and implement corrective actions to keep the project on course.
  • Maintain work scope readiness, ensuring material availability, Engineering and Planning products, and promptly notify the Project Manager of any issues.
  • Participate in submarine boarding during maintenance activities.
About you

A degree in a technical or project management field or equivalent experience in systems engineering, naval construction, or complex asset management/development environment.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Data analysis.
  • Practical knowledge of Scheduling, Earned Value Management, financial management, and personnel management applicable to a complex project environment.
  • Project Management Diploma or higher (Desirable)
  • AIPM membership or equivalent (Desirable)
  • Experience in a similar project setting for two to five years, preferably in the Defence industry (Desirable)
  • Australian Defence Security Clearance (NV 1) (Desirable)
Eligibility

This role mandates a current National Police Clearance, an Australian Defence Security Clearance, and approval to access protected US defence technology. Your eligibility depends on obtaining and maintaining these clearances.

While ASC considers all applications, candidates from certain foreign nationalities may not be eligible due to the role's requirement to access protected US defence technology.
