The Department of Environment and Science is seeking to appoint an experienced and passionate Program Coordinator with experience in the design and delivery of on-ground natural resource management programs.

The successful applicant will provide leadership and work with partners to leverage and maximise collective actions in order to focus efforts on areas where there is the highest likelihood of success and establish the foundations for recovery and growth of koala populations.

An ability to develop and maintain effective collaborative relationships will underpin the success of the program. Skills in project and contract management and administration will also be highly valued.

The successful applicant will have a proven record of working with partners organisations to deliver on-ground outcomes to support the conservation of biodiversity.


As the Program Coordinator, AO7 you will:

  • Support projects and teams to ensure successful and timely delivery of outcomes in support of the Department's strategic direction.
  • Support the development of the budget associated with the program, incorporating nfunding submissions, compliance with grant payments, revenue administration, budget monitoring, reporting and auditing functions.
  • Assist in the development and management of programs and activities including business and operational planning, contract and project management, monitoring and reporting of program outcomes, capital works and maintenance, in compliance with legislated obligations and statutory requirements.
  • Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with government and nongovernment organisations, community, indigenous peoples, special interest groups, agencies and industries to underpin the success of the program.
  • Participate in and provide support on project planning and implementation activities related to the delivery of onground conservation projects in collaboration with partner organisations to support koala conservation.
  • Provide specialist advice including policy support and interpretation of the Acts and related departmental policies, practices and processes to senior management on matters relevant to the SEQ Koala Conservation Strategy
  • Assist in the preparation and/or coordination of briefing notes, program plans, submissions, reports and correspondence associated with the program.
  • Foster a workplace culture that supports and promotes the interests of First Nations people and actively engage through our work to contribute to better outcomes for First Nations people.

  • Demonstrates the ability to develop policy options to resolve complex issues and has a thorough knowledge, or ability to rapidly acquire, a thorough knowledge of relevant legislation.
