About the opportunity:
Are you a skilled Software Engineer with a passion for and curiosity about Artificial Intelligence, dedicated to identifying and developing innovative solutions that enhance our existing products and services, and create new value for our business and customers?

As an Artificial Intelligence Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of AI in the lottery and online retail industries. Your expertise with Large Language Models (LLM), and software engineering will drive the development and deployment of AI projects that create significant value for our business and our customers.

This role is offered as an initial 6-month contract with the opportunity to convert into a permanent role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct research to identify innovative applications for AI within the lottery and online retail sectors. Stay abreast of the latest AI trends and technologies.
  • Design, build, and deploy AI-based software solutions and services that improve our operations, enhance customer experience, and generate new opportunities for growth.
  • Fine-tune pre-trained generative AI models to build bespoke AI assistants and solutions based on our company's data; and/or to integrate into our existing systems and solutions to automate, streamline and optimise existing processes.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including product development, IT, and business units, to ensure AI solutions align with business goals and technical requirements.
  • Monitor the performance of AI implementations, making adjustments and improvements as needed. Advocate for best practices in AI within the business.

To be successful in this role you will need:
  • A background in, customising, and fine-tuning LLMs using open-source models such as the Llama, Phi, and Mistral family of models. Experience using Ollama and deploying models published on and with Ollama & Hugging Face and the libery.
  • A background working in building and deploying processes for text embedding with Vector Databases, for example, Elasticsearch or Qdrant Vector Database.
  • Solid understanding of Natural Language Processing (NLP), especially the concepts of Large Language Models, Prompt Engineering, Fine Tuning, and Retrieval Augmentation Generation (RAG). Experience using and developing training datasets for model fine-tuning.
  • Proven coding skills in , JavaScript, and Python and PyTorch

  • Demonstrated ability to be self-directing, with the aptitude to independently develop and follow through on project roadmaps.   • Excellent problem-solving abilities and a creative approach to tackling complex challenges.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative business environment, contributing to a culture of innovation and excellence.
In addition to the above, familiarity with the lottery and online retail sectors would be beneficial.

Technically, you would possess experience in deploying AI solutions using architectures like Docker and Kubernetes, which are essential for scaling these powerful systems. Experience developing applications with Rust and C++, along with a grasp of and React frameworks, would further demonstrate a strong development skillset. Finally, a solid understanding of data privacy principles is crucial, as this ensures the responsible handling of sensitive information.
