About the Department of Education

The Department of Education is the largest provider of public education in Australia with responsibility for delivering high-quality public education to two-thirds of the NSW student population.

For more information about the Department of Education, please visit NSW Department of Education.

The Skills and Pathways Directorate supports students to access secondary and post-school education and training options, building strong careers and a flourishing economy and society.

We collaborate to develop policy, pilot innovative ideas, engage with industry and deliver programs, to enhance skills and knowledge. We focus on unifying vocational and higher-education pathways.

About the role

The Pathways Strategy Engagement Officer provides support to a network of government schools to engage local businesses, industry, employers and training organisations to facilitate work exploration, work experience, mentorships, employment and careers development.

The role supports the implementation of the Pathways for Secondary Student Strategy and the School Success Model Pathway targets aiming to ensure school leavers successfully transition to further education, training or employment.

We are building a new team to deliver this new initiative for the Department, to ensure that every secondary student is supported through pathways to succeed in post-school destinations.

The Metropolitan Sydney engagement service network supports a group of government schools in Western and South West Sydney areas. Local knowledge of Sydney's unique environmental and business complexities is advantageous to the role.

The
role will work flexibly across locations, including hybrid and mobile working.

As the role involves travel between a group of government schools and within the local community, a current drivers licence and use of your own vehicle is required (with work-related kilometres reimbursed in line with Departmental travel guidelines and policy).

This is an outstanding long-term opportunity to play an important and foundational role in implementing this important Education reform initiative across NSW.

Come and join us as we build pathways for lifelong learning, and support the delivery of a skilled and employable workforce for NSW through vocational education and training and higher education.
