The mine site

Located in central Victoria, this medium sized underground gold mine supports the careers of roughly 800 people and has been producing gold since 2005. The site offers:

  • 7:7 roster (days and nights)
  • DIDO and meal allowances for those travelling to site from further away.
  • FIFO provided from Sydney and Adelaide.
  • Hotel style accommodation provided with BBQ areas, outdoor pool facilities and Wi-Fi.
  • Shuttle bus provided from camp to site.
  • A well-equipped surface workshop supported by a smaller underground workshop for breakdowns.
  • $55 per day tax free food allowance.

The role

Reporting to the leading hand in your crew, you'll be responsible for the maintenance and repair of a fleet of Sandvik ground support machinery. You'll enjoy working in a close-knit team of trades and operators and be involved with:

  • Workshop duties (surface) - Servicing, preventative maintenance, scheduled maintenance, component changeouts, breakdowns, fault finding, diagnostics, general repairs.
  • Field duties (underground) - breakdowns, fault finding, servicing, general repairs.
  • Working on Sandvik DS421 and DS422 Cable bolters.

Your skills and experience

Ideally, you will come from a background working as an UG heavy diesel mechanic working on underground drills. However, applications are also open for HD fitters with experience on civil earthmoving or open cut mining machinery. You will also have:

  • Trade qualification (mechanical)
  • An excellent attitude towards work and desire to work in an UG hard rock mine
  • Ability to work on machinery in the field and workshop
  • Ability to work unsupervised and in a team environment
  • Driver's license

Contract and salary

Marble is partnered with this mining contractor to supply long term employees to the site. The opportunity exists to join the company on an initial contract through Marble and transition over to the clients' books after a short probation period (depending on performance and availability).

  • $70.00ph - $75.00ph + super (depending on skills and experience)
  • Weekly pay cycles whilst working through Marble
