About the opportunity

We are seeking a Diesel Clerk to join our Plant team on the North East Link Project.


As the Diesel Clerk, you will maintain diesel fuel levels of construction plant and equipment on a construction site, by driving a portable fuel dispenser to where the plant and equipment is located.

You will also accurately record fuel usage for each plant and equipment item and enter data into an Excel spreadsheet on a daily basis.


Duties will include, but not be limited to:

  • Satisfactorily perform clerical duties, such as manually recording information and using a computer
  • Perform accurate and timely data entry
  • Safely drive a van or small truck on a construction site being alert to hazards
  • Safely using a pump and hose and hand tools as required
  • Follow daily maintenance and storage guide for vehicle and equipment
  • Be able to work across different sites as required
  • Liaise with plant and equipment operators and supervisors
  • Follow instructions by site supervisor and site safety officers as required.
  • Excellent attention to detail and completing work on time
  • Good level proficiency in MS Excel and Microsoft suite
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to build rapport with different stakeholders
  • Driving licence with clean driving record
  • White Card
  • Be able to travel between worksites as needed
  • Must undertake a medical check* _Please note this job may not suit those with allergies to chemicals and fumes_

Desirable:

  • Previous experience driving a van or small truck
  • Previous experience on a construction work site

About Spark North East

The Spark Consortium has been selected to deliver the Central Package of the North East Link Project - Victoria's biggest road project.


The Spark Consortium's Design and Construction Contractor - which comprises Webuild, CPB Contractors, GS Engineering and Construction and China Construction Oceania - will deliver the twin three-lane tunnels and key interchanges for the project.


The Central Package will be delivered as a Public Private Partnership and provides three-lane twin tunnels that will close the missing link in Melbourne's freeway network from the M80 Ring Road to an upgraded Eastern Freeway, reducing journey times and diverting heavy vehicles away from local roads.

Up to 135,000 vehicles will use North East Link every day, reducing congestion in the north-east while maintaining local roads.
