The Role

Fixed Term (up to 3 years), Full time Level A/B – AUD$90,822 pa to AUD$121,504 pa (plus 17% superannuation) Wagga Wagga (relocation assistance available)

You will contribute to a research team investigating aspects of grapevine and other horticultural diseases, primarily working on a project funded by Wine Australia referred to as the Management and Diagnosis of Grapevine Trunk Diseases in Vineyards and Nurseries. The project will involve the establishment of laboratory, glasshouse and field experiments to investigate the epidemiology and management of grapevine wood diseases.

This role will work closely with the Principal Scientist and will undertake and complete independent high level data collection, report on findings to the project team, as well as identifying new research project areas.

This position is required to be located on the Wagga Wagga campus.

To be successful you will have:

A doctoral or close to completing a doctoral qualification in plant pathology, mycology, microbiology, molecular biology or equivalent accreditation and standing. Ability to plan and undertake field, laboratory and glasshouse trials in investigations of fungal pathogens of agricultural/horticultural crops. Ability to develop rapid diagnostics using molecular tools (qPCR, LAMP). A record of research or professional activity relevant to the discipline.
