he Role:

The Grade 3 Scientist is primarily responsible for oversight of testing services provided by the Molecular department at Northern Health.

The Grade 3 will also contribute to the evaluation of new testing protocols with subsequent implementation and will work closely with the Grade 4 Senior Scientist and Head of Department.


This position is responsible for:
Evaluation and establishment of new assays in the department.
Inventory management of molecular consumables.
Training and on-going education of molecular staff.
Equipment maintenance, servicing and trouble shooting.

QC/QAPTo be Successful in the role You will have :

A Bachelor's degree in science or applied science from a tertiary institution recognized by the Australian Institute of Medical Scientists.

Current National Police and Working with Children History Check.
The Staff immunisation Questionnaire must be completed by all new employees as part of the mandatory on-boarding process.

New employees are not permitted to undertake any activity that requires patient contact prior to clearance by the Staff Immunisation Nurses; this includes evidence of having the Flu vaccination on a yearly basis.

Minimum of 10 years relevant medical laboratory experience, preferably in a Diagnostic setting.
Extensive understanding of Quality system requirements for NATA accreditation.
Proven leadership experience.
Experience in infectious serology and bacteriology would be advantageous.
