Queensland Health's Big Build is the largest hospital expansion program in the state's history.

Spearheaded by the Health Capital Division, in partnership with Hospital and Health Services, this ambitious initiative aims to significantly enhance healthcare infrastructure across Queensland.

The program encompasses the construction of three new hospitals, the expansion of 11 existing facilities, upgrades to rural and regional health amenities, and the addition of thousands of new hospital beds over the next five years.


We are seeking a diligent and skilled Contract Officer to join the dynamic Contracts Administration team within the Health Capital Division.

This role is crucial for the effective management of construction and consultant industry partner contracts, ensuring the highest standards of contractual advice, dispute resolution, and insolvency management for significant building construction and maintenance projects.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the management and resolution of performance and contractual issues to ensure project deliverables are met.
  • Contribute to the implementation and ongoing maintenance of the contractor and consultant management frameworks, ensuring alignment with legislative and regulatory requirements.
  • Play a key role in developing and enhancing relationships and transparency between the Health Capital Division and its industry partners, facilitating better outcomes and efficient project delivery.
  • Ensure quality, consistency, and fairness in the government's interactions with the building construction industry, protecting the interests of the government and the public.

The successful applicant will have:

  • Proven experience in contract administration, preferably within the construction or healthcare industry.
  • Strong understanding of the principles of contract law and experience in dispute resolution.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team and manage multiple priorities in a fastpaced environment.
  • Knowledge of public sector procurement and contract management policies is highly regarded.
