JOB PURPOSE:

Trouble shooting, problem solving and repair in support of a large fleet of Digital Radio equipment. Returning equipment to the user in a timely manner in the best possible condition.

Based in Brisbane primarily at the L3Harris repair facility, with additional support provided on site at customer locations in ACT, NSW, VIC, WA, and other locations in Australia.


SCOPE:

Use test instrumentation and equipment to perform fault diagnosis of digital and analogue assemblies in customer support environments. Provide technical support and guidance to automatic test station operators.

Support engineering functions as required. Use data collection tools to manage workflow and review failure trend analysis for contribution to continuous improvement programs. Provide customer support in regard to product diagnostics as required, this may involve customer site visits.

Provide field support into other locations in Australia, for customer facing L3H Programs. Provide surge & backfill support into existing field-based programs based on resource requirements.


Provide technical support and assistance to the Pre-Sales Engineering team, in managing the demo radios used for customer evaluation activities.


TRAVEL:

Yes. ~25% travel to Australian based customer locations.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Responsible for efficient and effective product diagnostics comprising RF, digital and analogue circuits.
  • Responsible for accurate data collection associated with diagnostic findings and solutions.
  • Provide feedback to management, engineers and peers regarding diagnostics, processes, and tools.
  • Provide assistance and coaching to peers and test station operators to further strengthen team capabilities.
  • Ensure quality standards are maintained through best practice.
  • To ensure that all working practices comply with Health and Safety legislation.
  • Provide direct customer support in relation to product diagnostics as required.
  • Joint weekly reporting to management team
  • Inventory management and record keeping
  • Ensure Demo Radios are maintained prepared for customer evaluation
  • Provide surge support into field locations for maintenance activities.

EXPERIENCE / ACHIEVEMENTS
Essential

  • Proven experience in RF, digital and analogue circuit diagnostics to module level.
  • Proven experience in reading and interpreting technical information, engineering drawings and schematics.
  • Proven ability to schedule and prioritize work when presented with challenging targets to meet customer requirements.
  • Proven experience in conducting technical analysis, communicating findings, conclusions and recommendations.
Desirable

  • Understanding of network protocols.
  • Experience in APCO P25 (or similar Trunked Radio Network technologies)
  • Prior experience in Technical Maintenance

SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE
Essential

  • Proven experience in reading and interpreting technical information, engineering drawings and schematics.
  • Proven experience in fault diagnostics with digital and analogue circuits to component level.
  • Proven experience in setting up and using test instrumentation to replicate ATE failures for diagnostics purposes.

EDUCATION / TRAINING / QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum Certificate III in applicable Technical Trade.
