How this position will Make the Difference to City of Melbourne
The Community and City Services Division puts people, families and community at the forefront of our work.

It strives to ensure that Melbourne is a city for all, one that is liveable, healthy and vibrant and meets the needs of a diverse and growing population.


The Community and City Services Division includes six branches: City Safety Security and Amenity, Community Development, Community Wellbeing, Homes Melbourne, Parking Services, and Recreation and Waterways.

The Divisional Business Unit is an executive support function providing support to the General Manager and Directors.


The Divisional Business Unit works closely with the General Manager's Executive Assistant, Branch Directors and staff to ensure that business needs across the Division are being met.

The support the Divisional Business Unit delivers is varied and diverse to meet the specific needs of the Divisional Business Unit and Branches.


The Divisional Project Officer works closely with the Divisional Business Unit Manager to support effective business processes and continuous improvement, cross organisational activities and special projects.

With meticulous attention to detail, the Divisional Project Officer will collaborate with project leads across the division to provide advice on the planning and sequencing of project milestones for corporate reporting.

The Divisional Project Officer will support a successful divisional communications approach and provide unique value through their proactive ability to build trusted relationships across the division and broader organisation.


Selection Criteria

  • Ability to work flexibly and independently in a fastpaced complex environment, manage time and set priorities to achieve objectives in an efficient and timely manner
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and experience in the preparation of reports, recommendations, communications materials, briefs, policies and procedures.
  • Strong project management skills with experience in project milestone planning, mapping and sequencing.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and relationshipbuilding skills
  • Highly developed organisational skills, including a close attention to detail and the ability to act with initiative to design solutions to manage divisional priorities.
In addition, the
Divisional Project Officer will ideally have the following;

  • Experience in a similar executive support role or function will be highly valued
  • Strong skills and demonstrated experience with governance processes and the coordination of corporate reporting in a local government or equivalent setting.
  • Advanced computer literacy with all relevant programs and knowledge of general office systems including knowledge sharing and database management.
