An exciting ongoing opportunity has arisen for a Data and Insights Manager to join the NSW Telco Authority, a rapidly growing part of Digital.

NSW within the Department of Customer Service.


Our Product team is currently seeking to appoint a Senior Data Analyst to lead the improvement and creation of new and innovative Products and Services.

The focus of this role is to increase the utilisation of our key network operational platforms to enhance public safety outcomes and collaborate with our customers and Whole of Government.


The Telco Authority provides critical communications to ensure the public safety of NSW Emergency Services and other customers in providing services to protect the citizens of NSW.

The Authority operates an extensive and expanding network of telecommunications sites providing connectivity services.

To support and operate the network the Authority has a sophisticated operational platform that monitors and provides notifications of network events, and this platform is crucial to maintaining operational services at the levels required for Public Safety.

You will be joining a friendly, fast-paced, dynamic and diverse team who is passionate about keeping people and places safe.

The role sits within the Telco Product Management team of NSW Telco Authority.

In this role you will:

  • Lead Agile decision making to produce effective project outcomes through data driven analysis.
  • Provide expert communication and collaboration to shape and develop new products and services, and identify solutions that enhance network availability, public safety, and optimise value.
  • Utilise comprehension of telecommunications telemetry and diagnostic information to identify early anomaly detection, including preventative and prescriptive opportunities to optimise network resources, availability, and coverage.

To be successful in this role you will demonstrate:

  • You have an advanced degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Applied Statistics, Engineering or similar
  • You have experience developing, deploying and maintaining machine learning models in cloud environments (e.g. Databricks)
  • You are highly proficient with languages like Python (pySpark, Panda's) and SQL
  • You are proficient in a Data Visualization Tool (ideally Tableau or Power BI)

This is a Grade 11/12 role, with the salary starting at $134,411 base, plus superannuation + leave loading + accrued flex leave + continuous professional development opportunities.
