An exciting ongoing opportunity has arisen for a Data Analyst to join the NSW Telco Authority, a rapidly growing part of Digital.NSW within the Department of Customer Service.

In this role, you will analyse data from multiple sources to support the Network Operations and Emergency Management Team. You will support operational teams by providing new information and insights to the business to inform critical decision making and strategic planning. The role also involves working across other key government agencies. To support specific projects, you will need to be able to establish and maintain strong collaborative relationships with partners across government, customers, and the telecommunications sector.

The role sits within the Network Operations and Emergency Management team of NSW Telco Authority.

**In this role you will**:

- **Identify, interpret and analyse data using linking and statistical techniques to help solve strategic business problems including the identification of trends and/or patterns in complex data sets, and to create inference or insight**:

- You will develop, implement and maintain geospatial systems (such as ArcGIS Online and ArcGIS Pro) and datasets, including data collection and processing into intelligence products for planning, preparedness, response and recovery.
- You will be responsible for the preparation of accurate and timely situational reports both manual and automated (PowerBi) based on incoming data and information, providing informed analysis to support the team in addition to internal and external stakeholders
- **Develop and implement databases, data collection systems, data analytics and other strategies that optimise statistical efficiency and quality using best practice methodologies and industry recognised standards and processes**:

- **Filter and “clean” data to locate correct data subsets to ensure the quality and accuracy of source data**:

- **Produce tools, reports, visualisations and recommendations to answer business problems that are presented in the most appropriate format to ensure clarity for target audience**:

- **Develop and maintain customer and stakeholder relationships through effective communication, negotiation, and issues management to ensure deliverables are met**:

- **Provide advice to stakeholders, recommending and implementing ways to improve the efficiency and reliability of data products and services**

**To be successful in this role you will demonstrate**:

- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills with functions such as pivot table, lookup functions.
- Sound skills using query languages such as SQL
- Sound verbal and written and communication skills with the ability to synthesize and present complex information
- Experience in use of GIS, spatial, and/or general-purpose programming languages (e.g. Python).
- Ability working in fast paced environments with the ability to plan and organise tasks to meet deadlines and perform routine and complex tasks to prescribed standards.
- Criminal history records check and must be able to attain and maintain, baseline security clearance as a condition of employment.
- Being available on call 24/7, Intra-state travel related to coordination of state-wide events is required.
