The Role

This position is responsible for supporting the Parliament and Ministerial Services team in coordinating the department's Cabinet and Parliamentary businesses and assisting the Departments Ministerial Offices with reception/administrative tasks when required.

It is also responsible for providing advice to the department, public entities and Ministers' offices on parliamentary processes and protocols.

You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, be decisive and have a commitment to establish and maintain effective relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.


Key Accountabilities:

  • Provide support for the department's Cabinet and Parliamentary business, including coordinating Cabinet papers, responses to Parliamentary Questions and maintaining sound records management of confidential and sensitive material.
  • Liaise with and provide accurate advice to senior departmental staff, Minister's offices, and other Victorian Government Departments on DJSIR related Cabinet and Parliamentary matters.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships for gathering and disseminating information within DJSIR, the Ministers' offices and across government.
  • Maintain tracking systems to ensure that Cabinet and parliamentary workflows occur within required timelines to enable reporting.
  • Contribute to the reviewing and improving internal processes and look for opportunities to improve service delivery.
  • Assist the departments Ministerial Offices with reception/administrative tasks when required.
The Team

The position of Cabinet and Parliament Services Officer forms a part of the Performance and Governance branch in the Corporate Services group.

The Performance and Governance branch's objective is to continuously uplift the effectiveness of the Corporate Services group and the department.

The branch does this by providing oversight of operational activities and business functions, delivering strategic projects, and developing departmental guidance and frameworks to enhance the performance of the Corporate Services group and the department.

The branch also facilitates high-quality reporting and business planning to contribute to informed decision making across the Department.
