NSW Health Pathology are looking for a talented Technical Officer to join the research arm of our Molecular Medicine Department.

Based at John Hunter Hospital, we are looking for highly motivated team players


The NSW Health Pathology Molecular Medicine Department is located a short drive from Newcastle, on the John Hunter Hospital Campus, with beautiful surroundings and outdoor areas.

The team you will be working with is dedicated, committed and positive, and strive for excellence to provide a quality Genomics service to NSW communities.

What you'll be doing

  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the delivery of pathology services within a discipline relevant to the department, including methods such as microarrays, realtime PCR, Sanger sequencing and Massive Parallel Sequencing and an understanding of their use in diagnostic pathology services as well as use of Laboratory Information Systems, Patient Systems and Quality Systems
  • Ability to work in a responsible and efficient manner and to manage competing priorities to meet deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment whilst working autonomously to deliver results within specified timeframes set to meet client expectations
  • Customer focused approach displaying welldeveloped interpersonal skills and good oral and written communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with customers and patients as well as clinical laboratory staff
  • Commitment to the principles of quality management and continuous quality improvement and to identify, develop and implement quality and service improvement activities
  • Demonstrated experience in research project management
