About the Role

Our Newport power station, on the banks of the Yarra, uses natural gas to generate intermediate load into the electricity grid. As our new Asset Leader of Newport, you will be accountable for all of site operations including asset management, maintenance and financial performance, all whilst keeping our people safe.

This will include;

  • Leading all Health Safety, Environment and regulatory efforts to deliver a fully compliant site operation.
  • Developing and implementing short and long term asset strategy and business plans including planning for major maintenance and capital projects.
  • Financial performance oversight, including management of site OPEX and budgets and ensuring commercial rigour in the control of labour and materials costs.
  • Commercial management of major contracts
  • Providing leadership and direction to the site based teams to ensure business objectives are met and to create an environment where people are enabled to be their best.
  • Identifying site based business development initiatives that will deliver income and provide cost and environmental benefits.
  • Engaging with our local community and ensuring EA Newport is a great neighbour.

About You

You are an accomplished leader with experience overseeing the management of critical energy assets and in having led operational excellence initiatives for improved reliability and efficiency outcomes.

You will bring;

  • A proven track record in leading multi-disciplinary teams to deliver production, cost and compliance objectives in a dynamic environment.
  • Experienced in understanding and influencing the running of an energy operation in a vertically integrated business.
  • Extensive knowledge in risk management and project delivery.
  • Well-developed understanding of statutory requirements of critical infrastructure, environment and health and safety and national market rules.
  • Experience in stakeholder and community engagement will be highly regarded.
  • Tertiary qualifications in engineering or another technical or commercial discipline.
