About the opportunity:


Reporting directly to the General Manager, as Manager Advocacy & Public Policy you will lead a team of three (3) to position and promote Uniting Vic.

Tas as an advocate thought leader on a wide variety of societal concerns and issues.

Sometimes being bold to take a particular stance, your team will use informed policy positions, social research, campaigns and advocacy strategies to help position and promote Uniting Vic.

You will elevate the voice of the consumer through facilitating consumer-led advocacy and developing research partnerships to generate evidence-based policy solutions to structural and systemic issues that impact consumers and the community.


Working across the whole organisation, your team will support the development of consumer partnerships and work with key stakeholders to develop a way of identifying key advocacy issues and concerns at the service delivery frontline.


Externally, your team will build strong and effective relationships with Members of Parliament, Community Leaders, Government Officials, and other NGOs to influence policy on key issues.

About you:


Having built credibility through your career in similar roles, you have the drive and intuition to navigate external and internal stakeholders to respond to consumer issues and proactively advocate for policy change or new programs to improve the lives of consumers and communities.

You are highly proficient at developing persuasive arguments for change, exercising sound political judgement, and influencing the right decision-makers.

  • To be successful, you will have:_
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and or demonstrated experience in a similar role
  • Demonstrated experience working in campaign, public policy, or research across community services
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of the Australian political system
  • Capability to analyse and develop policy; produce submissions, reports and position papers; and effectively influence policy debates
