Based in the Geelong region, the growing Barwon South West clinical team deliver all offence-specific assessments and treatment pathways offered through Forensic Intervention Services to service users accommodated at four medium and maximum security facilities located in the Barwon Prison Precinct:

  • Barwon Prison (Barwon)
  • Marngoneet Correctional Centre (Marngoneet)
  • Marngoneet's Karreenga annexe (Karreenga)
  • Western Plains Correctional Centre (Western Plains) our new state of the art facility opening soon


Comprised of a Manager, Clinical Team Leaders, Senior Clinicians Practice, Clinicians, and AOD Practitioners this expanding multidisciplinary team collaborate with internal and external stakeholders such as custodial staff, prison leadership and a wide variety of mental health and disability service providers to deliver our therapeutic clinical services.

What you'll do

As a clinical team leader, you will build on your existing expertise by leading and developing a multidisciplinary team, delivering best-practice forensic intervention in a correctional environment.

Working within the Risk-Needs-Responsivity model, you'll combine hands-on practice with leadership and management by:

  • Mentoring, supervising and leading a team of clinicians to support assessment and delivery of individualised program interventions.
  • Delivering advanced clinical services employing evidencebased assessment tools and treatment interventions.
  • Managing staff performance through performance management and development processes.
  • Contributing to strategic management, ongoing development and implementation of our psychotherapeutic services.
  • Driving awareness and education in bestpractice offending behaviour and offender management.
Eligibility
To apply, you'll need to hold, or be eligible for, one of the following:

  • Registration as a Psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia (AHPRA).
  • Eligibility for membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).
  • Credentialed as a Mental Health Nurse with the Australian College of Mental Health Nurses.
  • Registered as an Occupational Therapist with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia.
  • Specialist training and/or postgraduate qualifications in a clinical or forensic field is desirable.
  • Psychology Board of Australia Approved Supervisor status is desirable.
Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people are strongly encouraged to apply.
