Processing Scheduler to join our dynamic team at a national structural steel company. As a Processing Scheduler, you will play a critical role in ensuring the efficient flow of production processes by creating, managing, and optimizing schedules for various stages of structural steel fabrication. Your meticulous planning and coordination skills will be essential in maintaining smooth operations and meeting project deadlines. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the success of our projects and make a significant impact on the construction and infrastructure industry.

Key Responsibilities:

Schedule Development:

Collaborate with project managers, production supervisors, and engineering teams to create comprehensive and realistic processing schedules for structural steel fabrication projects.

Incorporate project specifications, resource availability, and capacity constraints into schedules to ensure feasible timelines.

Resource Allocation:

Allocate resources, including equipment, machinery, and skilled personnel, to different stages of the fabrication process based on project requirements and production capacity.

Optimize resource utilization to maximize efficiency and minimize downtime.

Capacity Planning:
Monitor production capacity and identify potential bottlenecks or constraints that could impact project timelines. Proactively adjust schedules and resource allocation to address capacity challenges and maintain a smooth workflow.

Coordination and Communication:
Act as a central point of contact between project managers, production teams, and other relevant stakeholders. Facilitate clear and timely communication of schedule changes, updates, and potential delays, ensuring alignment and minimizing disruptions.

Scheduling Software:
Utilize scheduling software and tools to develop, update, and manage production schedules. Ensure accuracy and consistency of scheduling data, and maintain up-to-date records of schedule changes and adjustments.

Prioritization:
Evaluate project priorities and critical paths to make informed decisions about resource allocation and schedule adjustments. Balance conflicting demands to optimize overall production efficiency.

Risk Management:
Identify potential risks that could impact production schedules, such as material shortages or equipment breakdowns. Develop contingency plans and strategies to mitigate risks and minimize their impact on project timelines.

Continuous Improvement:
Regularly review and analyze historical production data to identify areas for improvement in scheduling processes. Implement best practices and innovative approaches to enhance scheduling accuracy and efficiency.

Performance Metrics:

Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of scheduling efforts, such as on-time delivery, resource utilization, and adherence to project milestones.

Monitor and report KPIs to management for performance evaluation.

Collaborative Environment:
Foster a collaborative and team-oriented work culture by supporting cross-functional communication, sharing insights, and assisting in problem-solving efforts.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Proven experience in production scheduling, preferably within the steel fabrication or construction industry.

Strong proficiency in using scheduling software and tools.

Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Analytical mindset with the ability to assess complex situations and make data-driven decisions.

Effective communication and interpersonal skills to facilitate collaboration across teams.

Problem-solving abilities to address scheduling challenges and unforeseen disruptions.

Familiarity with structural steel fabrication processes and industry standards is a plus.
