Your Opportunity


Develop and implement the 'Sounds of the Street' (SOTS) course for students as part of the CYI program, working with the other music Tutor ensuring implementation of TAFE course assessment requirements as well as coordinating the annual SOTS album creation and performance.

Provide opportunity to participants to engage in music production and performance, ensuring the needs of a diverse range of students are met, whilst still running the program within budget

Your key responsibilities will to:

  • Develop and implement a program of lessons to support the musical growth of students as well as ensuring they meet TAFE assessment requirements. A current Certificate IV in Training and Assessment is needed for this partnership with TAFE.
  • Ensure own music skills maintain a high level, in order to be able to best assist students
  • Working with individual students to assist them in developing music goals or projects and monitor and encourage students in the achievement of these.
  • Support students in use of music software for production, songwriting and performance skills.
  • Maintain close and ongoing communication with the Student Support Coordinator in order to convey developments or changes in students' behaviour or progression.
  • Provide information as required for grants and proposals to provide maximum opportunities for students' musical and educational development.
  • Facilitate the support of students as they progress into future educational or vocational pathways.
Requirements for success

  • Qualifications in Music Production & Performance
  • Certificate IV in training and assessment.
  • Experience in Music Production & Performance skills along with teaching experience in various forms
  • Welldeveloped understanding of music software
  • Experience working with, or understanding of, youth at risk
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Current Working with Children Check
