Project Manager

Rail / Civil Engineering

Location – Tamworth, West Midlands

(North West & Central region)

Due to continued growth, we are recruiting for a Project Manager to join our North West & Central team, based in the regional depot in Tamworth supporting works in the Southern section of the region.

Business Unit

A busy and fast paced project environment with an expansive portfolio of civils projects underway including a line side rail civils contracts, bridges and structures renewals, large structural installations including new bridges, Access for All (AFA) schemes and general civils works.

Projects can typically include bridge upgrades and refurbishments, station work (platforms etc), access for all schemes, structures including bridges and footbridges, line side civils etc.

The Role

As Project Manager you will manage and lead successful contract delivery by ensuring that the project team are fully appraised of the contract requirements and constraints, and ensuring the appropriate capability and resources are identified as necessary to achieve the contract objectives.

You will be required to develop positive relationships with all parties associated with the contract and to ensure that the contract is delivered on time, within budget and to the agreed quality whilst ensuring that client expectations regarding quality, programme and budget are wherever possible exceeded.

Day to day responsibilities including but not limited to:

  • Involvement/input in projects at all stages from pre-qualifying and tendering through to completion.
  • Ensuring that the site team are fully apprised of the contract parameters and have the capability and resources necessary to achieve contract objectives.
  • Ensuring that the contract is executed in accordance with the requirements of:
    • All applicable legislation
    • The Terms and Conditions of the contract
    • The Contract Health and Safety Plan
    • The Contract Quality/Environmental Plan
  • Delivery of the contract within programme and budget.
  • Control and management of sub contract resources to the highest levels of safety, quality and efficiency.
  • The continuous monitoring of contract progress to ensure contract objectives are being met.
  • Ensuring that, in conjunction with the Project Delivery Team, changes to the contract are identified, agreed and effectively managed.
  • The provision of formal reports on contract progress to the Contracts Manager and Framework Manager.
  • To identify business development opportunities.

Requirements

To excel in this role, you will have previous experience as a Project Manager in a rail and civil engineering maintenance environment.

  • Degree / HNC or HND in civil engineering (or equivalent compensating experience in a technical engineering role)
  • PTS
  • SMSTS
  • Experience as a Project Manager in a rail contracting environment.
  • Experience in rail working on civils associated projects / frameworks
  • Asset Management / Maintenance framework experience on civils and buildings projects
