The Opportunity

NSW Public Works team has an opportunity for a Project Manager with Engineering experience to join the Hunter New England team in Newcastle and Tamworth. Please nominate in your cover letter which Office you are applying for.

Join our team of advisory and delivery experts and help shape projects for the people of NSW

You will provide engineering expertise which responds to client needs to ensure the consistent delivery of outcomes, including project quality, agreed timeframes and budget, in accordance with WHS policies and procedures, in order to deliver the client's objectives and critical success factors.

In this role, you will combine your experience in managing infrastructure projects or programs with your team and client management experience.

As a team leader, you will provide direction and advice to other Project Managers on the delivery of programs whilst driving your own projects to completion.

About you

To be successful in this role, our ideal candidate will have:

  • Degree qualified engineer, with relevant work experience in project management, civil engineering, and / or civil construction in water, sewerage or roads infrastructure
  • Projects delivery – primarily civil engineering construction including water supply and sewerage, road and drainage, geotechnical works although this may include diverse projects relating to infrastructure
  • Proficiently managing project / program requirements from inception, scoping, design and construction through to post completion while
    • Controlling project budgets
    • Reporting on project progress, cost and risk
    • Manage quality and scope requirement to meet project objectives
  • Administration and management of contracts and claims evaluation and negotiation
  • Lead a team of project managers and assign projects and engage with team members to manage and lead the planning and delivery of projects
  • Exceptional stakeholder engagement skills and collaborative approach to meet business and clients' expectations in a commercial environment
  • Strong leadership skills and the provision of mentoring and advice to other project managers
  • A valid NSW Drivers licence, and the willingness and ability to travel which may include overnight stays in remote areas.
