Where you'll be working:

The Stroke Rehabilitation Unit is based at Belmont Hospital which is a 90-bed hospital in East Lake Macquarie.


The Allied Health Team covering Medical, Surgical, and Subacute wards, Level 3 ED, and short-term resident accommodation service for patients transitioning to Residential Aged Care forms part of the broader John Hunter Allied Health Profession Departments.


This position reports through the Level 4 Team Leader to the Level 7 Service Manager of Social Work based at the John Hunter Hospital.


About the role:

In this role, you will work as part of the Social Work Team supporting patients admitted across the hospital.


  • You will be a part of the multidisciplinary team, working specifically with patients admitted to the Stroke Rehabilitation Unit
  • You will utilise a variety of Social Work interventions and assessments
  • The Stroke Rehabilitation Team meets on a Tuesday, so Tuesday must be one of the days the applicant is available to work
  • You will be supported by a Level 4 Team leader and other Level 1 to 3 Social Work staff, as well as members of the MDT
  • Professional Development will be discussed directly with the successful applicant and access to training will be planned

Requirements:

  • Bachelor in Social Work or equivalent with eligibility for membership with the Australian Association of Social Work (AASW)
  • Eligible to drive in NSW and ability to travel locally as required
