About The Role

You will be joining the Sydney team of this engineering advisory busines who deliver capabilities to a range of clients in the complex infrastructure and defence sectors. We are looking for a highly skilled Associate Director of Project Planning and Controls to drive excellence in project management and execution.

As the Associate Director of Project Planning and Controls, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the successful delivery of our infrastructure projects by overseeing project planning, scheduling, cost control, and risk management activities. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to develop comprehensive project plans, monitor progress, and implement effective controls to mitigate risks and ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, including resource allocation, critical path analysis, and milestone tracking.
  • Implement best practices in project planning and scheduling to optimize project timelines and resource utilization.
  • Lead the development of project budgets and forecasts, and monitor project costs to identify variances and implement corrective actions.
  • Establish robust project controls mechanisms to track project performance against key metrics, and proactively identify and mitigate risks.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to project teams on project planning and control processes, tools, and techniques.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to communicate project status, escalate issues, and facilitate decision-making to keep projects on track.
  • Continuously improve project planning and control processes to drive efficiency, quality, and consistency across projects.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or related field.
  • Demonstrated experience in project management, with a focus on infrastructure projects.
  • Proven track record of successfully leading project planning and controls functions for large-scale infrastructure projects.
  • Strong knowledge of project management methodologies, tools, and techniques, such as Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, and Earned Value Management.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Strong leadership capabilities, with experience leading and mentoring project teams.
  • PMP or similar certification is a plus.
