GPC, and its wholly owned subsidiary Gladstone Marine Pilot Services Pty Ltd (GMPS), employ a diverse workforce of over 750 employees operating across multiple functional areas on a 24hr, 7-day basis.

About the role

This role is a 12-month fixed term contract cover maternity leave.


Working in the Corporate and Community Relations team, you will be accountable for optimising the corporate affairs function and relationships across all stakeholder groups including Shareholding ministers, government, Board, staff, industry, media, customers, community and Non-Government Organisations (NGOs).


Your duties will include, but not be limited to:
Provide corporate affairs activities including strategy, communication, media relations, government relations and liaison with Shareholding ministers, customers, community and industry groups to maintain and enhance Gladstone Ports Corporation's (GPC) reputation and social license to operate;
Monitor GPC's external operating environment including government, regulatory, industry and commercial trends to assist in identifying opportunities and potential threats to GPC's operations;
Support the management of external relationships with partners to support GPC's operational, commercial and community-focused activities;
Oversee GPC's Social Channels (Facebook, Instagram, Linked IN & YouTube) and Corporate Website Platform, providing strategic direction and guidance to Corporate Affairs Advisor;
Prepare reports for the Board and ELT on corporate affairs activities, opportunities, and challenges;
Assist in the identification and management of issues and crises likely to impact GPC's reputation;
Assist in reporting and servicing of information requests of Shareholding Ministers; and

Liaising with Ministerial and departmental stakeholders as necessary.

About the person


To be successful in this role you will be a highly skilled writer with vast experience in media and issues management.


You will also have:

Demonstrated experience identifying and managing social risk;
Experience in proactive issues management and crisis response;
Demonstrated skills in the delivery of communication strategies and plans to engage and inform diverse audiences;
Demonstrated skills in the development of messages for a variety of audiences utilising all communication mediums, whilst promoting a positive organisational image and reputation;
High level written and verbal presentation skills in particular with highly complex and confidential information;
Proven success building and maintaining effective relationships with key executives in government, business, and media;
Ability to develop stakeholder engagement plans and facilitate stakeholder engagement; and

Ability to collate and report on stakeholder engagement including provision of feedback to stakeholders.
