Your new role


This exciting position will report to the EGM - Operations West and aim to lead the execution of cost efficient and reliable distribution of customer freight whilst ensuring regional assets are maintained and utilisation is maximised.

Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Commercial management of costs for the North West network and Provide strategic direction
  • Rotate throughout each branch, providing guidelines on unloading and despatch of freight to customers
  • Involvement with EBA negotiations relevant to the regions
  • Ensure that all damages, incidents and discrepancies within the North West branches are reported and recorded
  • Set appropriate asset allocation and utilisation measures ensuring we are effectively using our IVMS system
  • Manage direct reports by:
  • Monitoring performance and providing feedback in a structured and constructive manner
  • Identifying training needs/ gaps and arrange additional training where required
  • Planning for progression, succession and coverage for key positions
  • Managing planned leave requirements
  • Monitor customer expectations and satisfaction levels and address any issues as they arise
  • Establish and manage relationships with key customers, potential customers, suppliers and subcontractors
  • Implement and manage compliance with HSEQ Management Plans
  • Identify, document and implement HSEQ improvements and continuous improvement strategies

What you'll bring

  • Advanced knowledge of required road networks and locations
  • Substantial experience managing a general freight operation, supply chain and logistics operations
  • Tertiary qualification in Management or extensive industry experience
  • Advanced knowledge of CoR, load restraint, statutory and regulatory requirements
  • Significant experience managing a large number of people within a complex operation
  • The ability to think strategically, analytically and outside of the box
  • Advanced financial and budgeting skills
