About the team


Finance and Investment Division (FID) is a trusted advisor to the Transport cluster, and partners with our stakeholders to make all financial and funding considerations for our once-in-a-generation $72 billion infrastructure program.

We provide best in class financial services to support decision-making on transport services, infrastructure investment and delivery. FID plays a critical role in project planning and funding, enterprise planning and financial management and control.

The opportunity


Right now, we have an opportunity for a Manager, Benefits Realisation Management & Evaluation to join Transport for NSW to support infrastructure and program evaluation activities.

This is a Fixed Term full-time opportunity until 24/06/2025. The base location for the role is Macquarie Park, though we offer flexible working arrangements.

This role provides effective and professional guidance on the identification, management and realisation of benefits for transport investment for customers and other stakeholders by supporting the business in linking to outcomes, implementing effective benefits management approaches and assuring benefits and evaluation planning.


What you will be involved in

  • Ensure that tracking mechanisms and benefit realisation procedures are in place that establish the links between project delivery to benefits realisation and supports project evaluation to ensure that the transport cluster meets NSW government requirements, develops and maintain effective internal and external stakeholder relationships and undertake key transport reporting processes.
  • Contribute to the development and refinement of the Transport Benefit Realisation Management and Evaluation Framework and Guidelines to ensure that it remains well aligned to the Government and corporate strategies and key directions
  • Collaborate with project managers to ensure that benefits are clearly captured at the commencement of project lifecycle, clear benefits management strategies are developed and recorded and that the methods and metrics for reporting realization are established through the project lifecycle in advance of benefits realisation reviews and evaluations processes.
  • Assure that benefits realisation management and evaluation requirements have been met as an investment progress through the lifecycle, including coordination of external Gate 6 reviews.
  • Provide support to transport teams to assess the impact on benefits of variations and ensure there are mechanisms in place to track the realisation of benefits, both planned and unplanned, as they arise through the program and project lifecycle.
  • Provide support and advice to teams undertaking project and program benefits realisation management and evaluation on approaches, requirements and appropriate methodologies.
  • Assist with the aggregation and undertake the review of portfolio benefits realisation management performance to inform processes such as outcomes budgeting.
  • Support the identification of structuring of business case which improve the optimisation of BRM and alignment to Transport outcomes.

About you
To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

  • Appropriate tertiary qualifications or demonstrated, relevant, equivalent professional experience.
  • You have demonstrated experience in a similar role within a government or corporate environment, experience in at least one of these disciplines evaluation, project management office analysis, data analysis, engineering, business case development, economics, investment evaluation and investment assurance.
