This includes the development, engineering, construction, operation and maintenance of renewable power plants -mainly wind and photovoltaic technologies-, energy sales and management and marketing, energy services, self-consumption, electric mobility and new technologies such as storage and green hydrogen.
ACCIONA Energía is governed by the most demanding environmental, social and corporate governance (ESG) criteria.The Senior Manager, Business Development leads the origination and development of projects in renewable energy technologies.
The key focus of this role is the development of wind energy projects in Western Australia to support ACCIONA Energy growth objectives in Australia.
This role provides management and strategic development input including commercial, environmental and planning matters to guide the passage of projects from site identification, feasibility assessment, and landowner negotiations, to planning & environmental approvals, and through the grid connection process.
The Senior Manager, Business Development will be responsible for managing internal and external stakeholder relations to ensure that projects progress to construction phase in accordance with quality, schedule, and cost targets.
Key Responsibilities
Project Management
- Responsible for the overall delivery of renewable energy projects through to investment case stage.
- Leadership of the Brisbane based team of Project Developers and Community Relations Coordinators.
- Coordination of internal Engineering & Construction, Environment & Planning, Finance, Procurement, Energy Markets, and Legal inputs.
- Responsible for the timely delivery of planning and environmental approvals processes with the assistance of Environment & Planning team and external advisers.
- Responsible for the timely completion of grid connection processes with the assistance of Engineering & Construction and Legal teams and external advisers.
- Management of external advisers to facilitate project development.
- Management of projects to budget and agreed timeframes, reporting on progress of projects.
- Identification and shortlisting of prospective sites for renewable energy projects.
- Provision of accurate and timely strategic assessment of development issues, risks and opportunities.
- Desktop and fieldbased investigations into development constraints on short listed sites and projects in feasibility stage.
- Development and maintenance of relationships with stakeholders including local, state and federal Government staff and local community representatives.
- Management of development issues as they emerge within projects with the appropriate stakeholders.
- Preparation of project reports on progress, budget, schedule, issues, risks and opportunities.
- Monitoring of development legislation and regulations.
- Responsible for developing and maintaining trusting and productive project landholder relationships from initiation through to construction handover.
- Negotiation of agreements to secure land for projects and easements for grid connection assets.
- Implementation of the landholder lease agreements and easements in close collaboration with Legal team.
- Liaison with landowners and neighbour's regarding key development matters.
- Identify, assess, and project manage potential project development and site acquisition opportunities, as well as opportunities with major customers for ACCIONA Energy to deploy its project delivery expertise.
- Build relationships with external clients and play an active role in messaging ACCIONA's key value drivers to potential project partners.
- Coordinate the timely preparation of EOIs, technical and commercial project bids, and preparation of feasibility reports and business cases.
- Support commercial and contractual negotiations in collaboration with other ACCIONA Energy colleagues.
- Prepare and deliver internal project approval documents as required.
- Responsible for building relationships with decision makers within federal, state, and local governments, regulators, transmission grid operators, potential business partners, and other key stakeholders.
- Responsible for community relations to ensure the successful delivery of project development activities with assistance from the Community Relations Coordinators.
