In this high profile role, you will report to the Senior Director, Risk & Resilience and be responsible for evaluating the operational risks associated with the business operations to ensure relevant risks are adequately covered by way of insurance, contractual obligations or other risk management strategies.


Your key duties...

  • Oversee and manage the Optus insurance program which includes understanding and evaluating insurance policies and coverage improvements, assessing risks, compiling underwriting information and coverage placement;
  • Assisting in the structure, negotiating, purchasing and daytoday management of the insurance program, including assisting with any coveragerelated disputes;
  • Settlement of claims against Optus, recovery of damages from negligent third parties and notification and submission of claims to Optus insurers where the loss exceeds the deductible; &
  • Database management and recovery of claims.

Your keys to success...

  • Tertiary qualified in a Business or Finance (Insurance) field;
  • Big 4 Consultancy Firm experience or significant inhouse insurance management working experience;
  • Familiarity with the underwriting process and working with brokers and leading insurers;
  • Understanding of various insurance positions and coverage types such as CGL, PI, ISR, workers comp etc.;
  • Significant risk management or consulting experience (min 10+ years) which has included people leadership;
  • Solid understanding of ISO 31000 Risk Management guidelines;
  • Project Management experience, with strong report writing, PC literacy and presentation skills;
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with a wide range of stakeholders; &
  • Open minded and flexible approach, with strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
