The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has opened for an Environmental Scientist to join our Environment & Planning Team in Brisbane . It is a fantastic time to join the team as w e are growing and continue to develop a strong pipeline of diverse, interesting projects for a range of clients across the country.

This is your chance to be involved in a growing multi disciplinary team , applying your skills, managing and delivering your own p ortfolio of work and also be involved with our large national projects. You will also work alongside an experienced team who will support your professional development.

Key responsibilities of the role :

Develop environmental impact assessments, approval applications and other studies and management plans

Lead and carry out fieldwork activities such as soil, surface water, sediment and ecology assessments in terrestrial and marine environments

Provide input, advice and expertise on environmental and planning mattersas part of KBR's infrastructure projects with a strong focus on the Transport, Maritime and Defence market sectors

Develop technical solutions to achieve improved environmental and sustainability outcomes on projects for internal and external clients

If interested have input into sustainability-in-design services our team provides to infrastructure projects including embodied carbon assessment, waste minimisation and sensitive water urban design

Contribute to proposals and bids for securing new and ongoing work

Apply relevant Commonwealth, State and Local legislation, policies, and guidelines.

Produce high quality professional reports and deliverables.

You also have a willingness to lead and carryout field work potentially in remote locations. We also seek someone can help coach and delegate tasks to graduate staff

Other requirements:

Graduate or postgraduate qualifications in environmental science, planning or other relevant discipline .

Previous experience working within an Engineering Consultancy, as an environmental consultant

Proven capability in professional technical writing in a consulting environment

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Able to operate as an individual contributor running their own work, or form a part of a multi-disciplinary project team

Takes initiative to identify and raise risks, issues and gaps

Comfortable meeting with and presenting to clients, supported by senior staff.

Technical proficiency and experience using excel and or GIS software an advantage.
